Organized in 1938 by Colonel Charles B. King (’28), the West Point Skeet and Trap Team has compiled an enviable record in both intercollegiate and inter-club shooting competitions, making it one of the premier collegiate shooting programs in the Eastern United States and the nation. Though Colonel King gave his life in WWII during the Normandy invasion, his legacy has lived on in the generations of cadets who have developed as marksmen on the West Point Skeet & Trap Team.
Today’s event honors the service of those cadets, officers, and coaches - past and present - who have been a part of the team during its 77 - year history. More importantly, it celebrates the memory of those team members who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation as officers in the U.S. Army.
Proceeds of today’s event will ensure that the West Point Skeet & Trap Team continues to set the standard for collegiate shooting while simultaneously fulfilling USMA’s mission to “educate, train and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of Character committed to the values of Duty, Honor, Country.
